Software you cannot buy off the shelf
When no standard software fits the way you work, we write it. No subscription, no dependence on one vendor, and the source code is yours.
- Start
- A prototype you can click through before anything is built
- Handover
- Source code, documentation, rights of use
- Running it
- Maintenance billed by time spent, cancellable
When building your own is the cheaper answer
Most of the time it is not. We do that sum before every quote.
- Software that fits already exists
- Then buy it. We help with the choice and the roll-out, and we earn not one cent from the vendor.
- It fits eighty per cent
- Then we check whether the missing twenty per cent can be solved with an interface or a small addition. That is almost always cheaper than building something new.
- The way you work is what sets you apart
- When the exact way you work is the reason customers come to you, nothing off the shelf fits — then building pays.
- The sum over five years
- Standard software costs licence times users times month. Building your own costs development once plus maintenance. We put both side by side, including the price rises that are planned into the subscription.
How a program comes about
In small pieces, and you see every one of them.
- Taking down the requirements
- Not as a wish list, but as sentences from the shop floor: “In the morning the foreman enters who is on site.” Sentences like that become the specification (Lastenheft); what is not in it does not get built.
- Prototype
- Clickable screens before a line of code exists. Changes cost minutes here, days later on.
- First working version
- The smallest program you can already work with. It goes into daily use while the rest is still being built — otherwise you notice a flaw in the thinking only after months.
- Acceptance
- Criteria agreed beforehand: what the program has to do for the invoice to fall due. Not a feeling, but a list to tick off.
- Instruction
- An hour with the people who work with it. Anyone who never gets the software explained carries on using the paper slip.
Technology
Unspectacular and maintainable beats modern.
- Runs in the browser, on phone and computer, with nothing to install.
- Entering data works without a network and transfers later, as soon as there is a signal again.
- Interfaces to what is already running — stock control, accounting, payroll.
- Daily backup, and the restore is rehearsed once, not only set up.
- Every change to a record stays traceable. That protects your people too.
What belongs to you afterwards
- The source code
- You get it. Any other developer can carry on with it, even if you fall out with us.
- The rights of use
- No restriction, no term, no user count.
- The documentation
- How it is built, where it runs, what to do when it does not run.
Maintenance is a separate contract, billed by time spent and cancellable at any time. A program that only runs for as long as you keep paying is not your own — that is a subscription with extra steps.
Describe the job you do by hand ten times a day.
If there is something on the market for it, we will tell you — and build nothing.
